Bypass Valve Information

Optional bypass valve: A bypass valve allows you to bypass the unit completely and use the regular water from your water supply in the event the unit would be damaged in some way. This would allow you to flush toilets and such while repairing a damaged unit. You would not want to have to shut the water off while waiting for parts for instance. Also, a bypass valve would allow you to use soft water at a faucet to wash your car for a spot free wash and then use that same faucet to get your raw water to water the yard or plants and such where soft water would be inappropriate. If you do not get a custom bypass from us, you should make your own. Get three faucets from the hardware store and one of our techs will explain how to make a bypass loop in front of the softener. Also, keep in mind that when you order a custom bypass unit it allows us to custom design it with whatever kind of pipes you are plumbing with. It gives you the choice of having copper or plastic and either 3/4" or 1" pipes coming out of the back of the unit for easy installation.
